Three of WIcreations’ TP2-125-40 BGVC1 performer flying winches were supplied to Dubai based Protec, one of the main technical suppliers for the high profile event that launched the Grand Opening of the Dubai Water Canal – a new 3.2 Km long waterway linking Dubai Creek to the Arabian Gulf.

The Prodea Group, under the guidance of Luca Sani GM of Prodea Entertainment LLC and Gep Paolo Cucco as creative director of the Italian event management company, brought style and flair to the epic production.

A purpose built outdoor arena was constructed on reclaimed land off the Jumeirah coast to serve as the main event presentation area, which included two 10 metre wide by 15 metre high projection screens upstage flanking a water screen of the same dimensions in the middle.

A choreographed aerial performance in the water accompanied the first 4 minutes of the presentation.

It was followed by another four minute segment documenting the incredible development of Dubai which has evolved from a creek and sand dunes to a world leading global metropolis in just 40 years.

The Dh 2.7 billion Dubai Water Canal project was a joint venture between Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) together with Meydan and Meraas. The Canal was the original brainchild of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed the late father of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Sheikh Rashid bin Saeedwho inaugurated the Canal in an outstanding production.

The performer winches – available from WI’s extensive rental stock of flying equipment and accessories – were supplied with 40.5 metre 0.5mm steel wire cables.

Other recent performer flying projects utilizing WI’s people flying technologies include the opening ceremony of the new Docks retail and entertainment complex in Brussels and on Italian music talent TV show, ‘House Party’.
