CLOUSEAU 40

20.01.2025

Clouseau needs no introduction. The band, led by Koen and Kris Wauters, has remained immensely popular for decades and has become a cherished part of Flanders’ musical heritage. Between December 20, 2024 and January 19, 2025, the Wauters brothers and their backing band welcomed more than 200,000 visitors to the dance floor of the Sportpaleis, spread across 14 shows. A 40-year career deserves a festive production so the show had all ingredients to be unforgettable and spectacular. Three hours of top-notch entertainment packed with a treasure trove of hits and timeless classics.

EUROVISION SCREENS

The Clouseau 40 show is a show way beyond of what national shows can usually bring and afford as to show effects. One of the main reasons is that the huge and expensive WI rotating screens, which have been used for EUROVISION 2023 and since then rental stock material, appear again in this show in a slightly customized version. The screens are the same but they only rotate. Moving back and forwards was not an option due to the location limits of the Antwerp Sportpaleis.

So from the moment we caught rumour that Clouseau was setting up a new show, WI contacted Luc Peumans, CEO of PWL to suggest an integration of the Eurovision screens in the show design. In this way the show could benefit from an epic show effect that was also affordable for a Belgian production. It’s safe to say that WI have not only been involved with this show from the beginning but even before the beginning.

WI TECH SPECS

All automation for the Clouseau gigs is WI automation except for the flying act which is by the way motioned by WI software. Besides the 5 rotating screens from Eurovision 2023 for which Creative Technology provided video on the front and Phlippo lighting on the back, WI also brought in 16x light pods, each suspended by 2 hoists.

The B-Stage ‘Basket Ring’ video is operated with 8x 1250kg hoists. Next to count in is a kabuki truss equipped with 11x 800kg hoists, used solely for lowering the kabuki between shows and rehanging the fabric. And to conclude check the rolling riser, which is a collaboration with Phlippo, positioned on stage left in the venue using 4x500kg hoists.
