Asian Games

The Asian Games, also called the Asiad, is a multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) under the supervision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The 15th Asian Games were held in Doha, Qatar from December 1 to December 15, 2006.

Together with Richard Hartman we designed the spines for this monster screen. In keeping with the circular structure of the stadium, the screen was designed to be curved. The entire screen is 165 meters wide along the curve, reaching 60 meters at its highest point and 20m at the lowest point.

We designed the standard spines and special spines: 148 in total. Each spine was holding 148 Versa RAY screens of 3m height spreaded 77mm. This big structure of 11.396m x 3m units was prepared at the site and then flown to the big main structure constructed by DS-steel in Greece.
